First Steps
Connection Problems: First Steps
One of the first things that you should do if you are unable to connect to the Internet is to check your networking equipment to make sure it is set up correctly and working properly.
The following steps with links to related articles can help you diagnose and resolve connection issues.
Reboot the antenna by Power cycling the PoE (Power over Ethernet injector). If you have multiple computers accessing the service you'll most likely have a router. It's a good idea to also power cycle the router at this time.
Note: Connectivity will be lost while performing this step. Please bookmark (add to Favorites) this page for future reference in the event connectivity is lost.
Set up: Check to ensure the PoE is plugged in correctly.
Lights: Check to ensure the PoE has power and you have a light indicating connection on your PC or Router.
Test and see if the connection to the internet is restored.
Still no connection? Check User ID and Password to ensure your account User ID and password matches the User ID and password configured in your router, or computers PPPoE connection.
Verify that no viruses or spyware are running on your computer. Visit Zeta Broadband's recommended tools page for a list of free programs to clean your PC.
Clear browser cache.
Browse by IP address to determine if there is a problem with your DNS server.
PoE Examples
Included as attachments are common pictures of PoE Injectors we have used. In most cases the POE is clearly labeled POE on one port and LAN on the other. The POE port should be plugged into the cable coming from the antenna on the roof. The LAN port is used for your computer or router.
The POE injects power over the POE port. Plugging this device in incorrectly has the potential to damage a device not intended to receive power over the ethernet port. If you are unsure on how to plug this in please call technical support.
